World Of WildStorm is an independent, fan-created reference and research database dedicated to documenting the history of WildStorm Productions and the enormous range of comics, characters, creators, publications, collectibles, merchandise, trading cards, games, and other media connected to the WildStorm universe. The site was created for fans, collectors, researchers, and anyone interested in the history of one of the most influential comic book studios of the 1990s and beyond.

More Than A Comics Database

WildStorm’s history extends far beyond the pages of its comic books.

The World Of WildStorm database documents the many different forms that WildStorm material took over the years, including comic books and collected editions, trading cards, collectible card games, pogs, apparel, pins, hats, posters, prints, figures, statues, promotional material, licensed merchandise, and other hard-to-find releases.

The site also follows WildStorm through its different publishing eras and imprints, including the Image-era WildStorm titles, Homage Comics, Cliffhanger!, America’s Best Comics, CMX Manga, and the later integration of WildStorm properties into DC Comics.

Our goal is to make these different pieces of WildStorm history easier to find, understand, and cross-reference.

A Database Built For Collectors

World Of WildStorm is designed with collectors in mind.

Many WildStorm products were released in relatively small quantities, advertised only in catalogs or solicitations, distributed through specialty retailers, or produced as promotional items. Others were available for only a short period of time and have become increasingly difficult to identify decades later.

As a result, documenting WildStorm history is often more complicated than simply compiling a list of products.

A single character or title may appear across comics, trading cards, apparel, promotional items, licensed merchandise, games, animation, and other media. Variants, promotional editions, retailer exclusives, alternate packaging, regional releases, and other differences can also make it difficult to determine exactly what was produced.

World Of WildStorm attempts to document these distinctions rather than treating every appearance or product as interchangeable.

Research And Documentation

A major goal of the site is accuracy.

Information is researched using contemporary comic books and publications, advertisements, catalogs, solicitations, interviews, production material, promotional material, surviving physical products, original artwork, home-video releases, and other available evidence.

When possible, information is compared against multiple sources rather than relying on a single modern database or secondary listing.

Not every piece of WildStorm history is equally well documented. Some items are supported by surviving physical examples or contemporary documentation, while others are known only through advertisements, catalogs, photographs, collector reports, or incomplete records.

Where the available evidence is uncertain, the site strives to distinguish documented information from collector evidence and from conclusions that remain unconfirmed.

The database is therefore an ongoing research project rather than a claim that every surviving or once-produced WildStorm item has already been identified.

A Visual Reference

World Of WildStorm is also intended to be a visual resource.

Whenever possible, the database uses photographs, scans, artwork, packaging, advertisements, and other visual references to help identify the actual items being documented.

This is particularly important for collectibles where names alone are not enough to distinguish between different designs, editions, or variants.

The objective is to make the database useful not only for someone who wants to know that an item existed, but also for someone trying to determine exactly what that item looks like.

Following WildStorm Beyond The Comic Book

The database covers much more than the core comic book universe.

WildStorm’s characters and creators crossed into trading cards, games, animation, merchandise, manga publishing, licensed products, and other forms of media. Some of these projects were major commercial releases. Others were obscure promotional pieces, experimental projects, or products that have largely disappeared from public view.

World Of WildStorm documents these different aspects of the company’s history alongside the comics themselves, allowing them to be viewed as parts of the larger WildStorm story.

The Archive Behind The Database

The digital database is supported by a growing physical archive of WildStorm material.

That physical collection is documented separately on the Unofficial WildStorm Archive page. The Archive explains the collecting and preservation side of the project, including the types of material being sought and ways fans and collectors can contribute.

The About Us page is focused on the database itself: what it documents, how it is researched, and why the information is being preserved.

An Ongoing Project

World Of WildStorm is not a finished encyclopedia.

New information continues to surface, previously undocumented products are discovered, existing entries are corrected, and additional photographs and scans can provide evidence for items that were previously difficult to identify.

Some of the most interesting discoveries come from the WildStorm collecting community itself. A forgotten advertisement, an old catalog, a product found in a collection, or a previously unknown promotional item can add an entirely new piece to the historical record. The database will continue to grow as new material is documented

Preserving WildStorm History

WildStorm produced an extraordinary amount of material during a period when comic books were expanding rapidly into new forms of media and merchandise. Much of that material is now decades old, and some of it was never extensively documented when it was originally released.

World Of WildStorm exists to help preserve that history.

Whether you are looking for information about a particular comic, trying to identify a piece of merchandise, researching a trading-card set, investigating an obscure promotional item, or simply revisiting the WildStorm era, the goal is to provide a useful and carefully documented place to start.

World Of WildStorm is built by fans, for fans, with the hope that the history of WildStorm Productions and the people who created it will remain accessible for generations to come.

Contributions And Corrections

The database is continually being expanded and improved.

If you have information, photographs, scans, advertisements, catalogs, collectibles, production material, or other evidence that could help document an item or aspect of WildStorm history, we would be interested in hearing from you.

Likewise, if you believe an entry contains an error or incomplete information, please contact us. Corrections and additional evidence are an important part of building a better historical record.
